About this trip:
In 2022 we began a collaboration with Tanzanian-based animal welfare organizations Meru Animal Welfare Organziation (MAWO), based in Arusha, and Education for African Animal Welfare (EAAW), based in Dar es Salaam, to coordinate a veterinary service trip aiming to provide communities and animals in Tanzania with much needed rabies vaccines and veterinary care that they wouldn’t otherwise have access to. In addition to the annual veterinary service and philanthropic trips we coordinate in Kenya, this collaboration in Tanzania is part of an effort to expand our veterinary service trip offerings and create further exchanges between North American volunteers and community-based animal welfare initiatives in Africa.
Our 2022 and 2024 trips were a great success and lots of fun! Since we weren’t able to coordinate a 2025 trip, we instead provided a grant to our partner organizations to ensure they were still able to purchase the vaccines and carry out the clinics. Dates for our 2026 trip to Tanzania will be July 2nd-16th. The first ten days of the trip are focused on animal care clinics and the last four days provide an optional extension to Madagascar. Throughout the ten day clinic portion of the trip, we will also enjoy day Safaris to Tarangire and Arusha National Parks where you will get to experience an abundance of African wildlife and geography. The total per person cost for the 10 day portion of the trip is $3,875 USD, which includes all meals, transportation, park & guide fees, and clinic expenses. The cost for the 4-day Madagascar extension will vary depending on your preferred level of accommodation.
The detailed itinerary for the 2026 trip will be shared in Nov 2025. Get in touch with us to pre-register for 2026!

Learn more about the work of our partner, MAWO
Led by Johnson Lyiomo, MAWO works to protect animals from cruelty by promoting, improving, and developing matters concerning the welfare and understanding of animals in Tanzania. What’s unique about this veterinary service trip is that in addition to stationary clinics, we will also be traveling with our Tanzanian partners and colleagues from Boma to Boma, or village to village, to provide veterinary care and services to the nomadic Maasai communities and their animals. Watch the below video to learn more about what you can expect and how your participation in this service trip will support MAWO’s efforts to reach this often neglected community and their animals:
Learn more about the work of our partner, EAAW
Led by Ayubu Nnko, Education for Africa Animal Welfare (EAAW), located in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, is an African non-governmental organization, which aims to promote animal welfare in Africa through awareness creation and improved practices and policies. They use media outlets to sensitize communities and to promote compassion, care, appreciation, and the “One Health, One Welfare” concept as a means of uniting animal welfare stakeholders in Tanzania, East Africa, and the entire African continent. Together we can speak with a more powerful voice.
Our 2024 trip was the first time EAAW had welcomed international volunteers to support their rabies elimination and animal welfare clinics, which we hope will be the first of many!
